Unveiling Post Archive Faction: Fashion Beyond Seasons with Dynamic Design Philosophy

Breaking Seasonal Norms and How PAF's Numerical System Transforms Fashion. Functionality Meets Aesthetics in this Innovative Collaboration.

Archive fashion, embodied by Post Archive Faction (PAF) since 2018, defies traditional seasonal categorizations. Founded by Dongjoon Lin and Sookyo Jeong in Seoul, now under Lin's creative direction, PAF employs a numerical system instead of seasons, just like software updates. This strategy liberates PAF from seasonal constraints, fostering a dynamic, ever-evolving approach. For instance, comparing a puffer jacket from 1.1 to 3.1 shows how updates unfold within collections.

At its core, PAF captures ideas in moments, embracing the notion that designs can be continually referenced and repurposed. This mindset champions an innovative relationship with time in the design process.

2.0

PAF has gained recognition for its unique designs and collaborations with FILA Korea and Off-White by Virgil Abloh. The brand's latest collection, 5.1, marks the conclusion of its "CHAPTER ONE" series and showcases Lim's aspirations for the future.

Lim, like other modern designers, didn't start in fashion. His education in product development at Hongik University influences PAF's focus on functionality, wearability, and aesthetics. His minimalistic personal style is akin to Steve Jobs.

PAF is an innovative fashion label that combines experimentation and perspective. The founders categorize collections as conservative right, intermediate center, and radical left, inspired by political systems and Lim's father's protest history. The label's core tenet is creating an "archive of the future" through stylistic language that navigates moral complexities.

PAF reimagines traditional menswear for a modern look. Their signature colors balance between all-black and vibrant hues. They challenge traditional categorization with unisex womenswear.

PAF's Seoul flagship store combines craftsmanship and functionality, with an interactive display system reflecting the brand's adjustable garments. As PAF progresses to "CHAPTER TWO" and the 6.0 collection at Paris Fashion Week, founder Lim's ambitions extend to directing a luxury brand. PAF embodies a fusion of function and aesthetics, balancing exploration and approachability.
